How does it feel to be on Iboga?

FAQ

Iboga is a very unique experience that is different from one person to another depending on what that person needs. Many people find iboga to feel like they are intoxicated with alcohol, or the sensation of being “high,” while others feel slightly buzzed with a minor change in cognition coupled with impaired motor function. Some people feel surprisingly sober while taking the medicine.

Unlike many other entheogens, Iboga is very grounding (it’s a root!), and you tend to feel very self-aware, and connected to yourself, your body, your life, and the environment around you throughout the process.  This is not an escapism herb. Iboga is the opposite of escapism.

Iboga can cause the mind to become very peaceful and calm for one person, yet hyper-active for the next. .

It has stimulant properties which cause most people to stay awake for a minimum of 24-48 hours. This enables you to stay conscious and aware as you continue processing the medicine. During this time you do not feel tired or exhausted.  Sleep will come easily when the time is right.

There can be various thoughts, feelings, or insights that come up during the time you are awake.  There is also a lot of neurological recalibration that happens during this time. Some people will go through periods of feeling ‘low’ and various emotions may arise.

Our team is always accessible to you throughout your stay 24 hours a day.  After taking the medicine, we will be continually checking in on you and monitoring you.

We will stay with you during your iboga ceremony for immediately assistance throughout your experience and we will stay awake with you until the medicine wears off and you are able to sleep.

Remember- we do not take Iboga for the feeling of getting high or going on a trip.  We take Iboga to help heal and better our lives. The effects of the medicine work unravel usually for months after the ceremony.
